Off Grid Solar Systems

Declare your independence from the power company

Off-grid solar is enjoying a resurgence in the region, as more people discover that it’s far less expensive to install a stand-alone solar system than to pay the utility company incredible construction costs to extend the grid to certain properties.

As the name implies, unlike a battery backup installation, an off grid solar installation is totally independent and unconnected to the power grid. As a result, there’s no need for components to make an AC power grid and a DC solar system compatible (and no labor to install them). This reduces component and installation cost.

The downside is that when there’s little or no sunlight and the batteries drain, there’s no access to the power grid to fall back on.

That’s why it’s important to have high performance, high efficiency solar panels to capture as much solar energy as possible– along with batteries capable of storing that energy for days instead of just overnight.

The REC and Panasonic solar modules we install are two of the world’s highest in both efficiency and performance. As Authorized REC Installers, and as the only Authorized Panasonic Installer in West Virginia, we can offer both of these brands with longer, more inclusive warranty protection.

An off-grid system is ideal for a small vacation cottage or hunting cabin. But with a high-efficiency solar array, its battery bank can store solar energy for round-the-clock use. So the system can be an everyday solution for energy-conscious customers who want the independence of living off the grid and greatly reducing their carbon footprint (and a re willing to be frugal with their power use).

A properly executed off-grid system is an exercise in planning and design, and we’ll be happy to work with you to design and install a system tailored to your specific needs and expectations
